Modern China in Literature and Film
This course examines historical issues and problems of modern China (such as women, family, and
revolution) through their representations in literature and film. The course considers literature and film in
their relation to historical circumstances. Film and literature provide a multiplicity of class, ethnic, gender,
generational, and regional perspectives.
Prerequisites
100 level History course or sophomore standing.
