Introduction to Literature of the Spanish-Speaking World
This course casts a panoramic view on the literature production of Spain and Latin America, focusing on
their historical, cultural and socio-political relationship. The course’s goal is to equip students with the
practical abilities to analyze a literary text in Spanish as well as with a basic knowledge of the major
historical trends and literary movements. Reading, literary analysis, and discussion of the canonical and most
relevant works will be organized by genres (prose, poetry, theatre).
Prerequisites
Completion of a Study Abroad program in Spanish, or Instructor Consent.
